Although relatively unknown in the west, Moldova's winemaking industry has been well respected in Europe and has existed for more than 2000 years dating back to the time of Greek and Roman settlements. Moldova shares the same latitude as Burgundy, France which together with the proximity of the Black Sea helps to provide a short, semi mild winter and long hot summers ideally suited to wine production.
